Satyajit R Padhye is the present generation ventriloquist and puppeteer. This art was initially invented and nourished in India. In those days the puppet shows dealt mostly with religious legends, stories about great kings, princes and heroes. The most common example is the shadow puppet performances of stories related to Ramayana and Mahabharata. With the changing times this art came out of the legendry world and became popular medium of handling social and cultural issues. Use of puppetry was made in educating the rural masses while providing fun and entertainment. The art of puppetry is still alive and popular in Rajasthan. The puppet shows also known as Kathputli concentrate more on the Rajasthani folk tales, ballads and folk songs. The tribal's of Rajasthan are performing and preserving this art from as part of their culture and tradition.
