Vasan Eye Care Celebrates World Sight Day
Vasan Eye Care in association with Vishranthi Charitable Trust celebrated the World Sight Day, a CSR initiative by Vasan Eye Care for the elderly and children.
- (1888PressRelease) October 18, 2011 - Vasan Eye Care in association with Vishranthi Charitable Trust celebrated the World Sight Day, an annual day of awareness to focus global attention on blindness, visual impairment and rehabilitation of the visually impaired which falls on the second Thursday in the month of October. Mrs Savithri Vaithi, founder of Vishranthi Trust inaugurated the camp.
As a part of the program, free eye check up was performed by the doctors of Vasan Eye Care for all the members of Vishranthi Charitable Trust and spectacles were offered to them at subsidized cost. Mrs Savithri Vaithi started the screening by being the first to undergo the eye check up. Around 163 people including children and destitute women from Vishranthi Charitable Trust, participated in the Eye check up camp.
The doctors advised the participants on the importance of regular eye check up and the people diagnosed with eye defects were referred for further consultation. The first two surgeries will be performed free of cost out of those who were diagnosed with eye defects.
VISHRANTHI Charitable trust, founded in 1978 is a home for old, destitute women and is located at Palavakkam, Chennai.
