VARVEL Sings With UNICEF For Syrian Children
VARVEL SpA begins 2014 by renewing its commitment to social issues. The Bologna-based company, producing fixed and variable speed units for nearly sixty years, will support with UNICEF "I saw the calycanthus flourishing sixty times" concert of Pooh singer Red Canzian to benefit Syrian children refugees, which takes place at the Forum Monzani in Modena on February 8, 2014.
- (1888PressRelease) February 07, 2014 - An estimated one million children, according to UNICEF sources, have been forced to leave Syria since the start of the civil war. Of these, 740,000 have less than 11 years, while 3,500 have crossed the borders alone or separated from their families.
Always sensitive to humanitarian issues, VARVEL SpA, socially responsible company in Crespellano (BO), wanted to help the young Syrian refugees by contributing to the Pooh singer Red Canzian concert organization "I saw the calycanthus flourishing sixty times", organized by UNICEF Committee of Modena at the Forum Monzani on February 8th.

The Canzian's concert , accompanied by the Archimia quartet - Phil Mer, Rudy Michelutti and Ivan Geronazzo - will go over his and Pooh's musical history, through classics like "Parsifal", "The two of us in the world and in the soul" and "Lonely men". The proceeds will be donated to UNICEF-Italy to strengthen the humanitarian intervention in key policy areas - healthcare, nutrition, water and hygiene, education and child protection, first aid - either in Syria and neighboring countries, to reach thousands of young refugees.

People and environment are, in fact, the two key values that have been guiding the company's social action for more than a decade.
From 2004, VARVEL SpA actively supports UNICEF, ANT (the national cancer association) and Doctors-without-Borders, by donating a percentage on each sold piece.
A strict policy of energy saving, implemented on 2010 with the installation of a major photovoltaic system, results a CO2 emission saving of 109 tons per year.
Numerous actions to associative and individual are also in favor of educational institutions and associations, as evidenced by the annual Sustainability Report .
