Referred to as Automated AP Processing, the technology addresses the paperwork challenged AP department, in particular, the Receipt to Pay lifecycle. This cycle is defined as the period that begins when a vendor invoice arrives in the mailroom and ends when a voucher is created for payment in the organization's ERP. This period is often plagued by inefficiencies that lead to high error rates, late payment penalties, missed discounts, lost documents, shipping expenses and increased staff requirements. Because these documents are not in the system yet, the finance department has very limited visibility into the liability that these payments represent.
