Value Energy Solutions Selected by Florida State University for Energy Efficient Lighting Retrofit
FSU awards energy efficient lighting retrofit project to Value Energy Solutions.

Florida State University contacted Chris Owens - Director of Sales for Value Energy Solutions to explore replacing and updating the lighting in their athletic facilities. The Value Energy Solutions team thoroughly reviewed the existing lighting and FSU's energy saving goals. Value Energy Solutions recommended retrofitting the existing T-12 lamps with more energy efficient 18 watt T-5 adapters. These adapters are designed to burn a 28 watt T5 lamp at 18 watts. A major advantage of the T-5 adapters is the school can now use more energy efficient lamps without the need to replace their existing fluorescent lighting fixtures. FSU will purchase over 800 hundred 18 watt adapters and T-5 lamps- which will provide an estimated energy savings of up to 60%. In addition to the ease of installation, the adapters reduce future maintenance costs and the school's carbon footprint.
Lighting retrofits substantially reduce energy costs and these savings typically offset the upfront lighting replacement and installation costs within two to three years. Typically one of the barriers to a lighting retrofit program is the upfront cost of replacing numerous lighting fixtures. The use of the T-5 adapter removes these cost barriers. Installing the T-5 adapters in your existing lighting fixtures is a simple and quick procedure because the high efficiency low power ballast is built right into the adapter. T-5 Lamps are the most energy efficient technology in the fluorescent lighting industry for the cost.
