Value Energy Solutions Awarded Lighting Retrofit Project for Valley Interior Products in Nashville, Tennessee
Valley Interior Products reduces energy costs through comprehensive energy efficient lighting retrofit.

Valley Interior Products, a subsidiary of Gypsum Management and Supply, contacted Chris Owens from Value Energy Solutions to help reduce their lighting energy costs at their location in Nashville, The Value Energy Solutions team thoroughly reviewed the energy use of the existing lighting in their office and showroom space at Valley Interior Products. Using their proprietary, VES Energy Savings Calculator, Value Energy Solutions presented a comprehensive lighting upgrade solution that will provide a 55% annual energy savings with a payback period of only 28 months.
The existing lighting was outdated and inefficient T-8 and T-12 lamps. A portion of the showroom was also lit using 50w PAR 30 halogen lighting. Value Energy Solutions recommended upgrading forty one lighting fixtures to T-5 (54w) HiBay fluorescent lighting, installing three hundred seventy four T-5 adapters (18w and 14W) and seventy seven PAR30 CFL in the showroom. The new lighting program will substantially reduce the annual energy usage from 128,400 KWH used per year to less than 58,000 KWH used per year. • Energy Efficiency - Typical 54 watt T5 lamp produces 5000 lumens - 92.6 lumens per watt
• Lower Lumen Depreciation - only 5-6% lumen output loss between the rated initial and maintained lumens. Metal Halide lumen loss is about 35%.
• Higher Quality Lighting - T5 lamps have a color rendering Index of 85 while metal halide lamps have a CRI of 65-70.
• Instant Startup and Restrike - T5 fluorescent lamps start and restrike instantly unlike HID sources which can take several minutes to restrike.
Value Energy Solutions will also use their Energy Star Rated T-5 adapters on this project. The T-5 adapters allow companies to affordably update their existing fluorescent lighting to newer more energy efficient lamps without the need to replace their existing fluorescent lighting fixtures. Typically one of the barriers to a lighting retrofit program is the upfront cost of replacing numerous lighting fixtures. Installing the T-5 adapters in your existing lighting fixtures is a simple and quick procedure because the high efficiency low power ballast is built right into the adapter.
