This event is about Red White and Blue, not Blue or Red - it is about being informed, getting the facts and deciding what matters most. Most importantly know that as women business leaders, our vote counts.
Washington, DC-MD-VA-WV (1888PressRelease) October 13, 2009 - Success in the City, Northern Virginia’s fastest growing women’s preeminent executive networking and membership group will be hosting a special gubernatorial panel discussion with Maureen McDonnell, wife of Republican Candidate Bob McDonnell, on Wednesday, October 21st at the Marriot Fairview Park in Falls Church, Virginia.
“The Virginia governor’s race is especially important to women this year,” says Cynthia de Lorenzi, Success in the City’s CEO. “We’ve seen in past state elections how important the women’s vote is and how influential Northern Virginia voters are to the final vote tally. Women care deeply about many issues related to business and growth in our state and we deserve to be heard.”
The panel discussion set to start at 8 a.m. will feature Maureen McDonnell, the candidate’s wife and his two daughter’s Jeannine McDonell an Iraqi war veteran, Cailin McDonnell, and Sheila Johnson, co-founder of Black Entertainment Television, and owner of the Washington Mystics. The panel discussion will be moderated by Cynthia de Lorenzi.
“We are excited to have this discussion with the McDonnell women,” says de Lorenzi. “We recognize that Bob McDonnell is the candidate but that the McDonnell women are an important part of the campaign team and they will carry our messages and concerns directly to the candidate.”
Success in the City is a non-partisan women’s membership organization that endorses neither candidate and offers no financial contributions to political campaigns. This first forum, with a second one hoped for with the democratic candidate’s wife, Pam Deeds, is designed to allow audience members to have a voice to discuss their views and hear directly how the candidate, if elected to the Governor’s office, would respond to concerns.
“Women in Northern Virginia are business owners, tax payers, and commuters, as well as mothers and wives. Our concerns go well beyond traditional “female” issues. I’m inviting all interested women, republican, democrat, or undeclared to join us for this important event and let the candidate know your views,” says de Lorenzi.
