Using the eXact LCMS at UK NHS case study wins Platinum Award at the Learning Impact Awards in Long Beach, Los Angeles
Exact learning solutions, a leading provider of learning content management, digital repository and mobile learning solutions and e-Learning for Healthcare (e-LfH), an established leader in developing and providing educational content for the overall UK National Health Service (NHS), have won a prestigious IMS Platinum Award at the Learning Impact 2011 ceremony, in Long Beach, California, May 18.
- (1888PressRelease) May 26, 2011 - Facilitated by the IMS Global Learning Consortium (IMS) - which has over 160 member organizations - the Learning Impact Awards (LIAs) recognize the most impactful use of technology worldwide in support of the global learning community, honoring outstanding applications of technology that address the most significant challenges facing today's global education and training industries.
This initial LIA Platinum Award was given jointly to eXact learning solutions and e-LfH for the world's largest and most successful online medical content production initiative which, since its inception in 2006, has delivered more than 450,000 hours (some 48 years) of medical training to more than 750,000 users to date, launching more than 1m medical learning objects online - continuously training UK's national health professionals in more than 50 subject matter areas including oncology, radiology, dermatology, dentistry, emergency, primary care as well as adolescent and child health.
On February 22 - a typical e-LfH training day - learners spent more than 1,000 hours online accessing more than 10,000 learning materials produced and managed by e-LfH authors, using the eXact learning LCMS and DR solutions.
"We are very pleased to receive this award", commented Alan Ryan, e-LfH's National Programme Director. "Our mission has always been to provide innovative solutions for healthcare education and deliver very high quality materials.
"The volumes and dimensions of medical training in the UK's NHS made us always think that we needed an innovative production cycle, content management system and life cycle to achieve our goals. This prize is the recognition that we've moved in the right direction".
Fabrizio Cardinali, VP of Global Business Development at eXact Learning Solutions and the Chair of the European Learning Industry Group (ELIG), added: "In 2007, we won another LIA award for the first project developed with e-LfH. Named R-ITI, it used our LCMS and was dedicated to innovation in radiology training. It won a Silver LIA for innovation and research.
"Today, after six years of ongoing developments with e-LfH, we've demonstrated that the combined use of SCORM and IMS standards, reusable learning objects and XML templating - as extensively automated by our eXact LCMS solution - is an excellent model for the UK's NHS. With over 1,000 learning objects launched more than 1m times by more than 750,000 users, this is not only a creative and innovative solution, but also a scalable and reliable architecture, with a highly relevant return of investment and business model for developing medical education and innovating content publishing for contemporary professional development".
