User-Sensing Wakeup Alarm Crowdfund Campaign Launched By Bradenton Startup Aims To help Oversleepers Everywhere.

- Sarasota-Bradenton, FL (1888PressRelease) December 23, 2014 - Bradenton startup company, Kickstart Smart Alarm Designs (KSAD), announced that it has launched a $135,000 fundraiser on the popular crowdfunding website Kickstarter.com. KSAD has created a new Hardware/App combination that "won't allow you to accidentally turn your alarm off until you're up and out of bed for the day!".
The "SmartStart" wakeup alarm has two parts - a soft, thin weight-sensing pad that lays under a user's mattress, and a smartphone app that communicates with the sensing pad via Bluetooth. The pad can detect body weight in multiple areas and uses an onboard microprocessor to calculate whether the weight detected is that of a person or some other object. If SmartStart senses a person is still in bed too long after they've shut off their alarm, it will automatically turn the alarm back on!

About the SmartStart Wakeup Alarm
You can set your desired wakeup time inside the SmartStart app, as you would with any alarm app, but then, the SmartStart app sends your requested time to the processing hardware inside the sensing mat. This hardware includes its own memory, speaker and timer, which means even if you accidentally force close the app, or the hardware gets disconnected from your phone, your alarm will still ring!
SmartStart's companion app pairs your smartphone with the SmartStart hardware, ensuring that two people can each use their own SmartStart in the same large bed without interference. For users with thin mattresses who are concerned about lying any sort of hardware, the SmartStart enclosure is designed to hang off the edge of the boxspring, only leaving a thin fabric layer under the user's mattress.
About the company
Kickstart Smart Alarm Designs was founded by majority owner, Patrick White. Growing up, Patrick said that "his alarm never went off" when he was late for school or work. These days, Patrick has done research and found that most people who experience this problem are all unconsciously doing the same thing - shutting off their alarms in their sleep. According to the NINDS, most people don't remember the last few minutes before they fell asleep, so a typical person may hear the alarm, shut it off, and fall back asleep all without any memory of doing so! Patrick invented SmartStart to solve this problem. He knew that with all of the "Smart" technology already in our homes these days, there was no reason why our alarm clocks couldn't be improved as well.
Patrick is trying to raise $135,000 in presales and pledges to get his company into self-sustaining production.
