US Army Research Laboratory Lists New SERS Analytical Method leveraging Optical Trapping in their On-Line Technology Store
Army Research Lab introduces new patent into an online technology store that is available for licensing at pre-negotiated prices.
- (1888PressRelease) October 28, 2016 - The US Army seeks a partner to license and commercialize the SERS analytical method that is sensitive enough to identify a molecule using only a single particle. This patented invention can be found on the Army Research Lab (ARL) IP Store that will make it easy for you to gain rights to ARL's patented Optical Trapping technology.
"The system is non-invasive and non-destructive, does not suffer interference from water and is insensitive to the excitation wavelength," notes Dan Swanson, Licensing Leader at TechLink. "By promoting the patent, which includes a method of particle detection analysis and an approach for building a library of enhanced particle scattering spectra in an online store, we hope to make the licensing language and terms straightforward and affordable."
The "ARL IP Store" is a website that allows users to browse technologies, select a specific opportunity, download the patent and published papers, and apply for a license to make, use and sell the technology, all on-line. The store is opening with an inventory of 20 technologies-from remote sensing devices to advanced materials and semiconductors. This initial inventory represents only a fraction of ARL's over 300 active patents, and the store will continually add new selections.

The online store, a first-of-kind licensing portal for the DoD, came about through a team effort including ARL and two of its key partners in the technology transfer arena, TechLink and Leidos Corp. The team began working in January 2016 to identify patents that would be good candidates for the store, especially those approaching a second round of maintenance fees.
