Urgent Care MD Opens New Center in Lakeview
Emergency room doctors look to increase care and cut medical costs for patients.
- New Orleans, LA (1888PressRelease) December 28, 2012 - Dr. Patrick Dennis, MD spent much of his career as an emergency room doctor treating people in his hometown that needed medical attention, even if they did not need emergency care.
This month, Dr. Dennis opened his first Urgent Care MD (www.ucmd.com) in Lakeview, La. in a new state-of-the-art treatment center. Urgent Care MD was created by emergency medical, specialty- trained physicians to provide patients with the highest level of urgent medical care as a cost-effective alternative to hospital emergency rooms. The new medical facility is located at 826 Harrison Ave., Suite A in New Orleans across from Lakeview Foods and next to Starbucks.
A grand opening of the facility is set from 4pm- 8pm on December 28, 2012. Visitors can take a tour, talk with doctors and enjoy light refreshments.
Urgent Care MD is physician-owned and community-minded. Its mission is to provide the highest quality patient care in a convenient and timely manner. UCMD is the first of what is expected to be a network of urgent care medical facilities across New Orleans.
The medical team at UCMD includes:
•Dr. Dennis, graduate of Louisiana State University Health Science Center and a former Green Beret in the US Army.
•Dr. Miguel Aguliera, graduate of the LSU Health Science Center and a physician who served in the Navy and Marine Corps military bases across the US and around the world.
•Dr. James Moises, graduate of LSU Health Science Center and has been practicing emergency medicine for 15 years. He has been the director at several large ERs in the New Orleans area and most recently ventured into the winemaking business. He is the owner of Moises Wines and Bizou Distribution.
"Our strengths are our deep ties to the community and our excellent training in emergency medicine; both at home and abroad. We want to bring our high-level of compassionate care and our understanding of urgent care medicine so we can do our part to hold down the cost of providing excellent medical care,'' said Dr. Dennis.
In addition to taking care of life's little emergencies, UCMD specialize in educating its patients about the importance of prevention. The center will offer a wide range of services including flu shots, physicals and sports physicals. Many basic medical tests can be done on-site.
