Uprooted Release New EP "Elevate" January 22, 2012
Southern California's musical mashers UpRooted infuse their unique blend of Reggae, Rock, and Hip-Hop on their debut EP "Elevate".
- (1888PressRelease) November 27, 2012 - Los Angeles, CA - Southern California's ascending UpRooted, are set to release their debut EP "Elevate," digitally worldwide January 22, 2012. Highlighting their stylistically distinct sound, "Elevate" distinguishes these gentlemen from the pack, featuring four tracks that showcase the band's lyrical aptitude, unique persona, and musical diversity.
Hailing from the San Fernando Valley, UpRooted formed in 2009 with their sight's set on defining their own voice and creating something unique, drawing inspiration from the diverse musical and cultural landscape of Southern California.
Overall the band's sound and style provides listeners with a cohesive mix of hip-hop, reggae, and rock. Whether singing or rapping, the duel vocals of Jon Lane & Casey Goode flow seamlessly between smooth raps and harmonic melodies that meld perfectly over atmospheric synths, funk'd up bass lines and guitarist Eric Montgomery's mix of chilled out reggae vibes and energetic, driving rock riffs.
With UpRooted's debut EP, the band set out very simply to "bring it" according to Jon Lane, who further explained that, "in terms of sound, when we were writing and recording these songs, we just kept saying we need to bring it; musically, lyrically, we were just in the mind set that this is our debut record and we can't hold anything back. We've been touring, establishing a name for ourselves, building our fan base and spreading the word. We needed to give our fans the type of energetic, dynamic, and hitting record that they would expect from experiencing our live show and knowing our personalities. We felt that the selection of songs we chose on this release, stylistically showcased and summarized the embodiment of the band as a whole, defined the unique range and dynamic of the band musically, and really deals with what we're currently into and about right now."
2013 looks to be a busy year for this young and talented band. In addition to the release of "Elevate," UpRooted will continue to write and record throughout the year, eventually working towards their first full length album, while also continuing to tour throughout the US in support of "Elevate", including a stop at SXSW this Spring.
Fans can also expect to see the band continue to regularly release their signature video content that highlights their unique personalities, sense of humor, and comradery behind the scenes, as well as official music videos for Live It Up the band's first single off "Elevate," and Bury It.
