UPES Celebrating Successful 10 Years
UPES entered into its 10th year with the announcement of Nuclear Science programme thus completing the energy and infrastructure chain, which was the aim. UPES had already made its way in the education sector by launching three programmes and acquiring 26 acres of land for its developmental purposes.
- (1888PressRelease) February 23, 2013 - In 2003, while the human genome was successfully mapped and Munnabhai, for the first time, stole his way into our hearts, UPES also came in existence in the state of Uttarakhand. While the first NASA rovers "Opportunity" and "Spirit" landed on Mars in 2004 and found evidence of water, UPES had already made its way in the education sector by launching three programmes and acquiring 26 acres of land for its developmental purposes.
As the US launched a war with Iraq and Saddam was captured, the university dared to get Energy Institute accreditation and US recognitions as the first self-financing University in India to achieve that honor.
With these honors came the confirmation of the visit of the then President of India to the University for our very first convocation in 2005. With this the first ever Classroom Block, Chancery and the Central Courtyard as the convocation hall came into existence in record time for the visit. As the world discovered the 10th planet 'Eris', we as well discovered the UPES team for the first time.
While, the President of India sent the Vice President in the next convocation in 2006, UPES was able to shift the entire campus to the Bidholi Complex. By this time the 225 students of 2003 had grown to 3874 students in 2009 and covered area breached the 3 Lac sq. ft. mark along with 35 number of courses. While the world economy went into a collapse there was no reason why placement in UPES got better and more. In fact, UPES went into an infrastructural drive, and between 2009-2012 another 3 Lac sq. ft. was constructed.
As Facebook was launched in 2009, and grew multifold thereon, and Higgs Boson particles was discovered in 2012, UPES immerged as a national entity with various award and accreditation to its credit with the strong performance oriented merit based culture. UPES entered into its 10th year with the announcement of Nuclear Science programme thus completing the energy and infrastructure chain, which was the aim.
As we now look forward to the next decade, it is time to pause and take consideration for future, take blessing of our elders, discuss plans for our next leap together with hope, optimism and growth.
To commemorate this milestone in the history of UPES, we are celebrating the 10 year Anniversary of UPES on February 22nd 2013 at 4:00 pm at Shriram Hall, Ground Floor, PHD House, August Kranti Marg, New Delhi. Dress code for the occasion is formals.
