Upcoming Reality Show, Produced by Cinesational Video Productions, to Feature the Portland Spirit vessels, crew and passengers
Stories will be humorous, touching, serious, dramatic, and thought-provoking. We'll view the way everyone works together to create seamless events. One of the main aspects of "Ships Ahoy" will be to show the inspiring moments that rise to the surface amidst the chaos of running a fleet of ships.
- Portland-Vancouver, OR-WA (1888PressRelease) October 10, 2011 - Introducing "Ships Ahoy!" (http://www.shipsahoyshow.com),
The Portland Spirit offer public lunch, brunch, dinner and sightseeing cruises as well as specialty cruises throughout the year. There are 5 boats in the fleet including the Portland Spirit, Willamette Star, Crystal Dolphin, Outrageous Jet Boat and Columbia Gorge Sternwheeler normally out of Cascade Locks, OR. Portland Spirit also operates two land venues; the Terrace on Thunder Island and Gorge Pavilion in Cascade Locks. The Portland Spirit staff works as a family, supporting each other, and watching each other's back. But families don't always agree on everything. "Ships Ahoy!" wants to show how problems can be worked out in a positive way, with intelligence and integrity, with kindness and even forgiveness.
The show will feature crew members and administration, highlighting their jobs on the Portland Spirit boats and in the offices. Many of the employees lead phenomenal lives, some of which are somewhat quirky. Highlighted crew members will include captains, wait staff, bartenders, cruise managers, and engineers. Office and sales staff will include sales and event coordinators, HR, the general manager, and even the "mystery owner" of the company, and his dog, Drake. However, when "off the clock", some of the employees are song writers and singers, Shakespearean actors, single dads, Worship pastors, and small business owners. For example; there is a server who with her husband, built a house out of old demolished driveways; the head of HR has played a terrorist on a national TV show. One of the captains writes songs and has a recording studio and theater for concerts on this property. There are also very close relationships within the employees; many husband/wife relationships as well as a brother/sister duo, father/daughter set, mother/son and son's best friend - all who live together, etc.
The staff offers great stories; however, we can't overlook the passengers. Portland Spirit ships are the perfect environment for groups to meet and celebrate life. "Ships Ahoy!" will be the "fly on the wall" capturing heartfelt special occasions as well as unexpected and intense moments including: 5 couples from the same family, each celebrating 50 years of marriage, a group from the Red Hat Society, a private company thanking their employees for a year in the black, the Friday Afternoon Escapes with local live bands, a College Urban Studies class with the GM of the Portland Spirit, the Cinnamon Bear Cruises at Christmas time, and intimate wedding parties of 6 as well as a wedding receptions for hundreds.
The show will also capture many unexpected events such as: a windsurfer needing to be rescued on the Columbia River by the crew of the Sternwheeler, the Outrageous Jet Boat breaking down during a cruise and the crew and office staff working together to get the passengers home safely via cars and vans, the dramatic situation, when a woman committed suicide, by driving her car into the Willamette River at 2:30 am, missing the Portland Spirit boat by only 10 feet, how the staff pulls together to extinguish ugly situations with intoxicated passengers, and many more.
Cinesational Video Productions, creator of the TV pilot shows "The Fanzone" and "Scene Northwest" as well as the creator of the nationally broadcast television show " Your Generation" has started to produce the Promo for the positively real docu-series "Ships Ahoy!". The cast of featured and supporting crew members have been finalized. There is no doubt that this project will be one to watch for. Shooting will take place on the Portland Spirit and Columbia Gorge Sternwheeler through December."Ships Ahoy!" is positively real TV, and is definitely the project/show to watch for.
