Unycom Partners with Know-Center
Know-Center, a leading organization in knowledge management and knowledge technologies, and Unycom, one of the world's leading providers of IP Management software have launched a new partnership in order to work together and mutually establish research activities, including investigation on new technologies as well as on knowledge transfer.
- (1888PressRelease) February 20, 2013 - Graz - Know-Center is a competence center for knowledge management and innovation point that is interfacing with science as well as with industry in order to foster fruitful cooperation and exchange of knowledge to the benefit of both, science and industry. In their work, they provide industry with the latest results of their research and analysis activities and hold close relationship with companies in order to understand their needs. In their collaboration with scientific institutions they promote application-oriented research with the aim to create leading-edge innovations.
Robert Ginthör, responsible for the business development at Unycom said: "This cooperation gives us the opportunity to make use of the rich knowledge of the organization in the development of forward-looking solutions. We mutually will work on topics concerning new technologies and applications for the benefit of our customers." Unycom sees this increased focus on new technologies as part of their user-centered product development. "The results of the Know-Center's research activities are valuable for us as they will serve us as a scientific background for developing solutions that meet current industry's needs," Mr. Ginthör added.
Unycom and Know-Center will work together to conduct research within a range of issues, including the processing, analysis and visualization of large amounts of data. The aim is to mutually address to challenges and identify opportunities in order to shape the future of IP management tools. "We are convinced that this exchange of knowledge between Know-Center and Unycom will result in exciting new products. This will be noticeable for Unycom customers in their everyday work," stated Robert Ginthör.
As a first step, Unycom took part in this year's i-KNOW, an international conference on knowledge management and knowledge technologies in Graz, and gave insight into the daily work of IP management systems as well as into the value of IP management data which can be extracted for further processing.

As an institution of Graz University of Technology, Joanneum Research and further proprietors, the Know-Center is Austria's competence center for knowledge management and innovation point at the interface between science and industry. The center is being funded by Austria's Competence Center Program COMET in 2001. Since its establishment, the Know-Center has been developing highly innovative IT solutions for knowledge management.
Its focuse research areas are:
- Conceptual design and impementation of intelligent IT services for knowledge work and learning organizations and communities (e.g. recommending knowledge resources in the work context)
- Conceptual design and implementation of methods for the discovery and content-based analysis of knowledge in complex knowledge spaces (e.g. semantic search).
