  • (1888PressRelease) July 17, 2011 - University of Missouri officially announces its plan for a big development to its Discovery Ridge Research Park that will create an 80,000 square foot, glass-encased architectural building.

    This planned development for the Discovery Ridge Research Park can potentially improve mid-Missouri's economy as it can generate more jobs, more revenue for the university and create new opportunities for the university's researchers to encourage more firms and investors to bring innovation to the marketplace.

    Based on the initial responses from the developer's the university have chosen for this development, the expansion may appeal to numerous high tech businesses worldwide. In addition, Mike Nichols, vice president of research and economic development at the University of Missouri System, emphasizes that the development plan for the research park is just the initial part of the university's strategic economic expansion program. The program also comprises of financial incentives to its faculty, businesses and entrepreneurs that will contribute for the commercialization of the project researches of the university. This also includes new policy to allow its students to have their own intellectual property rights for their innovations.
