- Phoenix-Mesa, AZ (1888PressRelease) February 05, 2022 - Tamara Schoen née Statman celebrated just over one year since the publishing of her book The Real Deal Student Athlete Success Kit. Statman - Schoen recently was at the retirement party for Mike Candrea, former Arizona Softball and USA Olympic coach, where she was able to reflect upon her time as a student athlete and what publishing the book meant to her.
“Playing for Coach Candrea during my college career was such a fantastic experience. He truly became like a second father to me while I was playing,” said Statman - Schoen, “It was such an honor that Coach was able to write the forward for my book. This book was truly needed for young athletes and it is incredible that one of the greatest of all time was able to be apart of it”
Statman - Schoen created The Real Deal Student Athlete Success Kit to familiarize high school athletes and parents about what it was like to play Division 1 sports.
“T is a talented professional who brings an air of levity everywhere she goes,” said Michael Luke, Co-Host, Kevin & Mike Show, Wildcats Radio 1290.
Statman - Schoen was a high school softball standout and three sport athlete growing up. During her four year career at University Arizona, she had 10 career homers and 100 hits. Statman was Arizona’s first Academic All-American (2019) since 2010 and was a two-time first-team Pac-12 all-academic honoree. After college, Statman - Schoen was named to the Israeli National Softball Team and was heard on the radio at Wildcats 1290. Currently, she is an educator.
