  • Bakersfield, CA (1888PressRelease) May 31, 2011 - "I always knew I wanted to help people, but the excitement that comes along with being an EMT helped me narrow down my choice," said Brad Rains, a student at Universal Careers.

"There's a lot of challenge in the EMT/paramedic field, and being part of that 'front line' just appeals to me," Rains said.

A combination of students, instructors and admissions representatives were on hand at the conference, giving potential EMTs the information they needed. While the latter groups talked about the field and Universal Careers' programs from a more clinical point of view, the students showed their enthusiasm for both the training and the profession.

"There's a certain passion that comes from these students," said Paul Johnson, assistant director of student affairs for Universal Careers. "They provide prospective EMT/paramedic students with a look at the program from inside. Instructors have a viewpoint that comes from experience in the EMS field. Current students can talk about taking the classes and what it takes to go through the program."

The conference was a success, giving many a look at the world of EMT/paramedics and the training provided by Universal Careers.
