  • West Palm Beach-Boca Raton, FL (1888PressRelease) February 18, 2012 - When seeking a unique venue for an Art Elementality event in February showcasing the original works of Russian-born artist Oleg Sheyhon, organizers were quick to select an 8,770-square-foot penthouse at One Thousand Ocean. The iconic ocean-to-Intracoastal condominium is located at the Boca Raton Inlet, adjacent to the Boca Raton Resort's Beach Club.

The congenial evening featured a sampling of Sheyhon's contemporary paintings, drawings, photography and mixed media, and the artist himself was on hand to mingle and speak with admirers of his innovative creations. A cocktail reception, ballet performance by Kirova Ballet of Miami, and live music by saxophonist Gen Nady and vocalist Erica Sommer added to the elegant ambiance and festivities, which were enjoyed by numerous Russians and others who spend time in South Florida.

"We believe that unusual art deserves a special space to be displayed, which is why we approached One Thousand Ocean," said Catherine Rudnick, the artist's sister and a Boca Raton resident familiar with the building.

"As soon as we entered Penthouse 2, the largest of the three available top-floor penthouses, we agreed that its modern design and high ceilings would be ideal for an exhibition of contemporary pieces of art. The space has a loft-like, gallery feel," added Anna Garbuzov, the artist's representative who splits her time between the U.S. and Russia.

Added Sheyhon, "I am very grateful to One Thousand Ocean's developer for allowing us to host this exhibition in such a spectacular setting, I know that our guests were as impressed with the building as we were. The modern architecture allows for large, open floor plans, sweeping floor-to-ceiling expanses of glass, and fabulous views in all directions. The penthouse, in particular, is truly a 'wow.'"

According to his bio, Sheyhon possessed artistic skills which were visible in his drawings when he was six and living in Moscow. Not even the cookie-cutter approach to the development of children by the Society public school system could quell the soul and passion of this Russian child who was inspired by the Hermitage reprints his parents kept at home, as well as depictions of cowboys, Indians and superheroes. With subsequent experimentation, hard work, training at the Art School in Moscow, and travel, Sheyhon's works matured with his age. At the time of the Soviet Union's collapse in 1991, he immigrated to the United States where he currently resides. He continues to be influenced by varied materials and life situations, and his works are included in many private art collections around the world.

Currently 77% sold, One Thousand Ocean has 12 of 52 residences available, eight of which are ready for immediate occupancy. Most include private entries, fireplaces, terraces with outdoor kitchens and private plunge pools, and private two-car garages. Prices are from approximately $3 million to $15 million. Residents who are, or who elect private membership at the neighboring Boca Raton Resort & Club (A Waldorf Astoria Resort) enjoy access to a myriad of amenities and services in addition to those that are offered on-site at One Thousand Ocean.
