Under CSR Activity, LPU trained Government School Teachers of 15 Villages

  • (1888PressRelease) June 07, 2016 - Shouldering corporate social responsibility, Lovely Professional University trained government school teachers of 15 villages situated in the vicinity of LPU Campus. In this regard, LPU School of Education organized one day workshop-cum-teacher orientation program in which 30 delegate teachers from 15 Government Senior Secondary/High Schools participated. LPU Chancellor Mr Ashok Mittal informed: "One day training program was to pass on updated knowledge, teaching style, new tools and pedagogies to the village teachers so that they may share these with their students. The underlying aim here is to prepare for advantageous changes in 21st century education to further meet global challenges."

    A few days back HRD Minister Smiriti Irani had visited LPU on its Founders' Day where she appreciated that LPU has already adopted 10 nearby villages for bringing all round awakening and development as per present Government's aims. The present teachers training program is on the same lines. Continuing different CSR activities, LPU volunteer students and teachers either visit villages or the villagers are invited at the campus for guidance, health/physiotherapy check-ups, awakening programs and more.

    The teachers who attended the training program belonged to the schools of villages Bhullarai, Sahni, Mehtan, Madhopur, Mauli, Khajurla, Baghana, Maheru, Jagatpur Jattan, Athouli, Nangal Majha, Harbanspur, Chaheru and areas of Phagwara-1 & 2. Narrating their experiences, participating teachers Jyoti Pathak (Phagwara), Sital Kumar (Bhullarai), Balwinder Kumar (Madhopur), Joginder Pal (Mauli) shared unanimously: "Such trainings are very necessary for all of the teachers to be abreast of latest trends and traditions in the education. At LPU we have learnt new style of teaching for our students so that they can be developed at par with urban students."

    Prior to this, Head, School of Education Dr Mihir Mallick awakened teachers about various assessment tools; LPU Asst Prof Dr Kundan Singh presented valuable inputs on 'learner centered pedagogies'; whereas, Prof Harbhajan Singh Saini touched the issues related to quality education. DEO Secondary Education (Kapurthala) S Gurbhajan Singh motivated teachers to establish coordination between their academic and non-academic responsibilities. LPU Director General Er HR Singla guided teachers that they should sharpen the intellect of their students as well prepare them to live a life of purity and sincerity.
