Unconventional Gas Sources to Drive Growth of Indian Natural Gas Production
Fast Pace implementation of reforms encouraging huge investments from foreign players and increasing demand for cleaner fuel will drive natural gas production to grow at a CAGR of around 8% CAGR during 2011-2013, says RNCOS in its latest research report.
- (1888PressRelease) September 10, 2011 - According to our recent market research report, "Indian Natural Gas Sector Analysis", India represents one of the fastest growing natural gas markets and it is the sixth largest consumer of energy in the world. In India, energy 'demand vs. supply' gap has increased the focus on developing possible energy resources. India has huge reserves of untapped unconventional gas sources that can quench the substantial gas requirement. India has enormous coal reserves and methane gas available in coal seams, the Indian Government had formulated Coal Bed Methane policy in 1997 to utilize these resources. The potential of CBM as a primary energy resource in India is being established and increasingly efforts are being made to commercialize the same. Hence, these efforts are expected to increase the production of CBM at a CAGR of 60% during FY 2011-FY 2015.
The research also identified that the shale gas - which can bring seismic changes in the natural gas scene - has not been given the deserved importance. India has unlimited reserves of shale gas, touted as the low-cost, eco-friendly fuel of the future with vast untapped resources. Our report shows that it has been estimated that there are 300-2,100 Trillion Cubic Feet (tcf) gas in several places in Indian shale gas basins. The government plans to open up the shale gas exploration acreages by the end of 2011 to exploit the untapped resources.
Further, our report also includes Gas hydrates, that is the another type of unconventional source. India is estimated to have large untapped gas hydrate reserves, significantly more compared to the traditional gas reserves. The Ministry has set the priority operational areas along with an extensive roadmap of National Gas Hydrate Programme (NGHP).
Our report, "Indian Natural Gas Sector Analysis", is an outcome of widespread research and objective analysis of ongoing as well as future market trends for all the prominent market segments. The report provides exhaustive analysis on gas demand and supply, gas allocation, gas pricing, exploration & development, etc. to facilitate deeper market understanding. Besides, the report has also included government initiatives in this sector and also facilitates information on key players in the country and includes their detail business description, five years financials, strengths & weaknesses, and their recent activities.
