Former UFC Light Heavyweight Champion Forest Griffin to rub shoulders with his fans at the Old Strathcona Rack in Edmonton July 21st.
- (1888PressRelease) July 13, 2012 - Edmonton, Alberta - Trixstar Productions is pleased to present Forrest Griffin of UFC fame at the Old Strathcona Rack in Edmonton on Saturday July 21st. Fans will have a chance to meet and greet one of UFC's most tenacious fighters and the 2008 UFC Light Heavyweight Champion while watching UFC #149 (Faber vs Barao in Calgary) on the screens.
Fans will want to take advantage of the opportunity to get up close and personal with the celebrated fighter, who will have a chance to answer questions about the bout with Tito Ortiz, which Griffin will have fought Saturday July 7th at UFC 148 on Saturday July 7th in Las Vegas.
Griffin, a former Georgia Police Officer, first became well known by taking part in the first-season of Spike TV's The Ultimate Fighter, a mixed martial arts reality show. After winning the Ultimate Fighter Championship, he went on to win the UFC Light Heavyweight Championship, defeating Quinton "Rampage" Jackson and earning over $300,000 for the win. A major hand injury in the first title defense in 2008 at UFC 92 sidelined him for months and, since then, he has been working hard to regain his momentum.
The match with Ortiz will have been the third between the two fighters and the rubber match to decide the 1-1 split. Griffin and Ortiz fought each other at UFC 59 and UFC 106, won respectively by Ortiz and Griffin. THE Old Strathcona Rack is located at 10544 Whyte Avenue.
