UCP Of Greater Sacramento Receives $3,200 To Provide Student With Communication Technology

  • Sacramento, CA (1888PressRelease) November 25, 2010 - UCP of Greater Sacramento has received a grant of $3,200 from the Bellows Fund to purchase a SpringBoard Lite communication device and accessories for a student with developmental disabilities. The 50-year-old student, who wishes to remain anonymous, is a participant in UCP's adult day programs and lives with spastic cerebral palsy, mild epilepsy and moderate intellectual disability.

    "Our student has very limited speech, but enjoys being involved in classroom activities," said Doug Bergman, president and CEO, UCP of Greater Sacramento. "He has indicated that he wants a communication device, and we're so grateful to the Bellows Fund for helping to empower him to live life without limits."

    The Bellows Fund was established in 1995 when Elsie S. Bellows donated a charitable fund of $4.3 million to UCP National to provide assistive technology devices to people with disabilities in financial need. The annual income from the fund is used to purchase the assistive technology equipment.

    Each month, 2,600 children and adults with developmental disabilities and their families are empowered to live life without limits at UCP of Greater Sacramento.
