UBIFRANCE backs 130 innovators with biggest national pavilion at MWC 2013
For the seventh consecutive year, UBIFRANCE, the French export-support agency, will host a French Pavilion at Mobile World Congress (MWC) in Barcelona (Spain), from 25 to 28 February 2013.
- (1888PressRelease) February 07, 2013 - The latest innovations from 130 French exhibitors will be showcased on the French Pavilion (Hall 5, Booths 5E100, 5G100 and 5I100), making it the largest national pavilion at the trade show this year.
The French Pavilion, supported by UBIFRANCE, the French agency for international business development, will display a range of products and technologies, including microchips, middleware, mobile solutions, content-related solutions, and devices for wireless-telecoms networks. Exhibitors will also present numerous services dedicated to mobility, including high-speed mobile broadband and video streaming, as well as games, work solutions and other applications for mobile phones.
Mobile World Congress (MWC), held in Barcelona (Spain), is the international trade show of reference for the industry, and the French Pavilion will cover three stands in Hall 5 between 25 and 28 February of this year. With 130 exhibitors, the French Pavilion is set to be the biggest national pavilion at the trade fair in 2013.
According to the Autorité de Régulation des Communications Électroniques et des Postes (ARCEP), the French regulator for the telecommunications sector and postal services, the market for electronic communications and mobile services in France is booming. On 30 September 2012, the number of clients using mobile services reached 72 million, which is equivalent to a penetration rate of 110.30% of the nation's population (including mainland France and French overseas territories). The total customer base rose by 7.40% year on year, which is the highest annual growth rate recorded in 10 years.
The number of people using mobile services in mainland France stands at 69.30 million, which is up 7.60% year on year and represents 1.50 million additional customers in the third quarter of 2012. This is the strongest growth for a third quarter in France, especially for monthly subscriptions (which were up by approximately 940,000) and for machine-to-machine (M2M) cards. The latter segment was up by 460,000 in the third quarter, having already shown a sharp increase during the first half of 2012.
The French regional authorities of Burgundy, Brittany, Ile-de-France, Languedoc-Roussillon, Midi-Pyrénées and Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur, as well as hi-tech clusters of excellence, such as SYSTEMATIC Paris Region Systems & ICT Cluster, based in Paris, and the Secured Communicating Solutions (SCS) world-class cluster, based in Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur, have joined UBIFRANCE in promoting France's mobile-telecoms industry at MWC 2013. These partnerships facilitate co-operation among industry players by bringing together a large number of companies from a range of sectors and regions.
For the third year running, business meetings will be organised by UBIFRANCE between French exhibitors and major operators from Brazil, Canada, Israel, Japan, Singapore, South Korea and Spain.
The trade show will also be punctuated by a series of events scheduled for the French Pavilion, such as the France Cocktail drinks reception on Tuesday 26 February (from 6:00pm).
