Two Strangers Launch Unique Online Family Travel Magazine
A new family travel magazine is launching their website on September 24. They offer a traveling tips, destination advice, a world events calendar, kid correspondents and travel photo diaries.
- (1888PressRelease) September 05, 2013 - Pure Wander Magazine, an online publication geared towards diverse, family-centered travel, will launch live this fall. The site offers age-appropriate experiences in destinations all over the world in addition to travel tips, photo diaries and a detailed global calendar of events. This extraordinary new magazine was founded-and run-by two complete strangers.
"I am a passionate and experienced traveler," said Shauna Armitage, Co-Founder of Pure Wander. "When my son was born, I wanted to find ways for him to enjoy amazing moments as well. There just wasn't anything out there for me-family travel magazines tend to offer articles about theme parks and great spring break getaways; I was just looking for something more authentic, so I decided to create it myself."
Armitage, a graduate of Wheelock College in Boston and of York College of PA, decided that she couldn't do it on her own and went searching for a partner in crime. She came across Crooked Flight, a travel blog written by Eileen Cotter, a social media guru and Saint Bonaventure University journalism alum. Armitage reached out to Cotter who loved the Pure Wander concept and who immediately came on board.
"This endeavor moves me away from blogging, an inherently indulgent field, back to my journalistic roots-sharing the extraordinary stories of pioneering families setting a high bar for amazing exploration worldwide," said Eileen Cotter.
Although daily Skype meetings are the norm, the two co-founders have managed to create an original and high-quality publication without ever having actually met.
This new magazine sets out to combine exceptional travel writing with a unique parenting perspective and features articles from seasoned travel writers such Julie Hatfield of the Boston Globe and travel author, Helen Truzkowski-just to name a few.
Pure Wander Magazine offers its readers a different kind of family travel experience in addition to travel tips and prizes. Participants in Pure Wander's weekly Twitter chats are automatically entered into giveaways for prizes ranging from travel gear to a voucher for a vacation planned by New York's premier luxury travel consultant, Konstantinos Bastas.
"We hope our guerilla approach to social media pre-launch will set us apart as a fresh family travel authority." Eileen Cotter said. "Fun is always the focus and we are already having a blast connecting with parents and creative voices in the industry."
Connect with them today via Facebook or Twitter and join the growing number of families who are making Pure Wander their go-to website for travel ideas.
