Two Pop Rock Bands, Two Tenors, Same Hometown -- Will One Step Away Finally Cross Paths with Boys Like Girls?
Emerging pop rock band One Step Away and the acclaimed band Boys Like Girls will both be playing at Topsfield Fairgrounds this Saturday night, October 9th. Coming from the same hometown of Andover Massachusetts both bands have several interesting threads in common.
- Boston, MA-NH (1888PressRelease) October 07, 2010 - On stage and in their new album, One Step Away sounds like a signed Pop Rock band in their mid-to-upper twenties. Eager to take the 'next step' in their musical careers, the talented young band completed a full length album, "For the Broken", at Soundmine Recording Studio, and toured this summer performing as far away as Hollywood CA. One Step Away is comprised of mostly high school seniors: Adam Carrington (Lead Vocals), Terence Healy (Lead Guitar), Mike Nuzzolo (Bass) and Ben Trudeau (Drums).
So where it the tie with Boys Like Girls? You may be surprised to find out that both Martin Johnson from Boys Like Girls and multiple members of One Step Away hail from Andover, MA. The coincidences don't end there. Martin Johnson, the lead man and vocalist for Boys Like Girls, and Adam Carrington, the lead singer for One Step Away, both went to Andover High School and both had lead roles in the school's musicals. It also turns out they both received musical theater training at the same local Conservatory. Interestingly enough, it turns out that the two tenors both had the same voice teacher. The big difference is Martin and the guys from One Step Away are seven years apart in age. The two bands have never met in person!
The members of One Step Away have looked up to Boys Like Girls for years and consider them to be one of their stronger influences on their style and sound. If all goes well they will cross paths this weekend as both bands are playing at Topsfield Fairgrounds on Saturday, October 9th. Boys Like Girls will be playing on the Arena main stage from 6- 7pm (tickets are $30). One Step Away is playing on a smaller stage near the Grange/Museum area from 7-10pm (free with the standard admission ticket).
One Step Away will outperform their small stage with their powerful sound and catchy songs. Totally immersed in their performance, the band stuns their audience with their raw talent heard with crystal-tuned richly laden vocals and tight instrumentation. With miles of road and many stages behind them, including Universal Studios Hollywood CityWalk Stage and Whiskey A Go-Go, One Step Away has matured and is ready to take-off.
Buzz around One Step Away is growing. Next month, they will be a 'featured artist' in Alternative Press magazine, thanks to multiple fans requesting them. This past month, they appeared in SIR Magazine and several blogs featuring 'the next big thing' including Buzzin' Box -' where music's next superstar is discovered' and The Sound Alarm - 'alerting you first of the hottest new music'. CD reviewers give their debut full-length album accolades:
"One Step Away has created a refreshing body of music that will surely reaffirm and seal them as Pop/Rock sensations." SIR Magazine, September 2010
"Dealing out a contagious mix of rock and pop tunes these boys are well on their way to becoming the next big thing." The Sound Alarm, September 2010
"For The Broken, has One Step Away poised on the brink of the big time." Wildy's World September 2010.
And who knows... if all goes well maybe the guys from One Step Away will finally get to meet Martin, Paul, Bryan and John in person.
