Two Leading Tutors For Auckland Workshops Eva Polak And Ken Ball
Two leading creative photography tutors will combine their talents for the Second Annual Waiheke Island Creative Photography Indulgence Workshops in October.
- (1888PressRelease) July 26, 2014 - Australian Ken Ball, who has nine books and 45 exhibitions to his credit, launched the Waiheke workshop in Auckland last October and it sold out in days, so a second workshop had to be arranged to accommodate the participants. New Zealander Eva Polak will join Ken as co-host for the workshops this year. She is acclaimed as one of our best art photographers. The 2014 workshops are titled "Creative Nature and Nudes" with workshops in Nature and nude photography using impressionist and abstract style and professional figure models. Following the sell-out success of the inaugural 2013 workshops on Waiheke Island, the 2014 sessions will take creativity one step further with expert tuition in impressionist and abstract photography - with field trips on both Nature and nude figure photography. Workshop convenor Ken Ball will return from Australia and has asked New Zealand's leading impressionist photographer Eve Polak to co-host the 2014 sessions.
Ken Ball said: "I first taught Eva at the University of Auckland many years ago and since then she has emerged as an outstanding art photographer. "I have hoped for years to host a workshop with her, and now that time is right. Participants can work entirely in Nature work or nude photography, or do some of each, over the three exciting days. "We will apply the same creative techniques to both and the end result will be a hardcover digital class book like we did last year".
Eva Polak added: "We will do sessions on impressionist photography to start the workshop but then explore abstract photography - as that is a new way of seeing. "Be ready to open your mind to a brand new visual experience and learn how to look at the world around you differently and more carefully. "We will discover how to use the visual language of colour and form to evoke mood or emotion in our photographs".
Ken has lectured in art photography and photojournalism at the University of Auckland, Victoria University in Wellington, the University of Canterbury in Christchurch, the University of Sydney, the University of Southern Queensland and at his own workshops held over Australia and New Zealand. He recently won an Excellence Award for a portfolio of images on Venice in a contest run over 62 countries.
Eva's journey into art photography when she was given a camera one Christmas and she soon began a passionate journey that was to change her life. She attended one of Ken Ball's workshops at the University of Auckland and decided that impressionist and abstract photography were her calling. She has published several books on the subject since, held several workshops of her own and exhibitions in Auckland. She is a popular judge at camera clubs over New Zealand. Her knowledge of impressionist photography is widely accclaimed.
Two workshop dates have been scheduled with the first one over the October long weekend (October 25/26/27) and the second one on October 29/30/31 for participants who don't want to give up their long weekend.
The workshop cost is NZ$555 for three days tuition. Both Ken Ball and Eva Polak will be available during the workshops to review participant's own earlier work in private sessions of 10-15 minutes for each participant.
