Two Dubai-Based Jewellery Designers Exhibit their 'Festive Collection' at Holiday Inn Dubai - Al Barsha

On display were layers of beautiful pearl necklaces, stacks of rings and bracelets, flashy brooches, bold and bright pendants, chandelier earrings and tribal bangles.

Some selected items from the 'Festive Jewellery Collection' will be on display for public at the Holiday Inn Dubai - Al Barsha until November 13, 2013.
About Ying Feng
Ying Feng brought together an alluring selection of high quality precious and semi-precious jewellery. Flirting with the Orient, she has created a captivating festive collection that resonates with elegance.
Raised in Beijing, jewellery for Ying is much more than just a craft and her favourite are pearls. Ying said: "Design isn't always about mixing styles, textures, metals, gems… Sometimes it is about choosing one strong medium and sticking with it. I simply love pearls".
Born into a family of artists, Ying was educated in the strict Chinese tradition. In 1997, Ying gave up a high-flying job to pursue her dream of discovering art and nature. Her love of art led her to the internationally acclaimed artist Mr Zhu Peijiang who is descendant and disciple of none other than the famous Mr Qi Bai Shi. Soon Ying joined the Chinese Military Museum of Qingdao Submarine Jade as an assistant curator. During this period, she had the opportunity to learn and look at art differently. At the same time she organized and participated in many unique art exhibitions and activities happening at the museum. This gave her invaluable insight and understanding of traditional Chinese art.
Ying treasures every moment spent at QingDao Submarine Jade Museum. It's here that she discovered the mysterious, deep dark green submarine jade. Ying looks to nature for themes of her collections that appeal to both connoisseurs and commoners. "I design my jewellery with nature in mind", she says. "Pearls are timeless. No other gem has been so loved, for so long, by so many. China has got vast and diverse watersheds that provide excellent breeding areas for oysters. In the South, our waters are just the right temperature and salinity for oysters to grow large pearls over a long period of time".

About Irum Siddiqui
Irum Siddiqui is a young Indian jewellery designer based in Dubai who creates timeless ethnic jewellery. Her designs are feminine and delicate, and crafted in gold-plated silver with lots of colourful crystals and beads.
Speaking about her festive line, she said: "I do not look at jewellery as a passing fad. For me an ornament is something to be treasured and worn over and over again. I see its value growing over time and therefore, my designs are inspired by the rich Indian heritage and vintage collections that never go out of fashion".
Irum places a strong emphasis on craftsmanship with each piece hand-crafted to perfection. She stressed, "For me what is absolutely essential is the quality of material and workmanship. A lot of jewellery out there is the same mix of beads or metal. But I try to be more daring in my approach and have played with a lot of contrasting material and styles."
Irum's inspiration comes from her mother Chaman Siddiqui who has been associated with hand-woven exotic Indian fabrics and dresses for over three decades. She said, "I have grown up surrounded by the most beautiful tribal motifs and that is what I wanted to capture in my designs. My festive range includes a lot of floral patterns."
Irum's success comes from the functionality and versatility of her designs - not just from making pretty pieces. Her designs look equally enticing whether paired with traditional Indian outfits or Western wear and can be worn by women of all ages. You are bound to make a statement with her jewellery. She said, "It is all about mixing and matching. You can dress up or dress down according to the occasion. The beauty of my designs is that they lend themselves to any style".
