TusCA Ristorante Introduces Its "Through The Eyes Of The Artist" Series
Just announced! Throughout 2012, TusCA Ristorante at the Hyatt Regency Monterey Hotel and Spawill host a series of events seen "Through The Eyes of the Artist."
- Salinas, CA (1888PressRelease) January 24, 2012 - For centuries Monterey has witnessed a rich cultural heritage emerge across its canvas, a montage of ethnic diversity born of artists and writers, all sufficiently inspired by the landscape and the light to craft their lives in Monterey. TusCA Ristorante at the Hyatt Regency Monterey Hotel and Spa is inspired by the artists that live on the Monterey Peninsula.
Throughout 2012, TusCA Ristorante will host a series of events seen "Through The Eyes of the Artist." Guests will enjoy the appropriate spirits - from wine and Champagne to gin and vodka - paired to inspire the art they will view as well as interactive conversations with the artist and culinary team relating the tastes, colors and themes of the wine and the art. In all of these culinary and wine tastings, the artist, chefs and sommeliers are available to discuss their techniques, food ingredients and cooking processes with the guests.
Events begin at 6:00 p.m. with a cocktail and or wine reception, mingle with the artist and enjoy appetizers from Chef Johnny DeVivo! DeVivo is known for taking his inspiration from the hearty cuisine of Tuscany, and creating authentic and sophisticated regional Italian dishes created from the wealth of locally and seasonally sourced California produce, meats and fish. At 6:30 p.m. guests will meet the artist, view the art and engage in a private question and answer session with the artist. The event includes beverages, appetizers and a rare opportunity to view art, meet the artist and ask the artist questions in an intimate setting. Event ends at 7:30 p.m. The event costs $65 per person plus tax and gratuity. 20% of the proceeds from each event will benefit Youth Arts Collective (YAC), a non profit after school organization which provides equipment, supplies and individual mentorship to motivated young Monterey County artists, ages 14-22. This creative sanctuary has proven to be effective and successful in maximizing the art potential of our youth, while developing their self- esteem and their appreciation for contributing in positive ways to our community. www.yacstudios.org. The first "Through The Eyes of the Artist Series" Will Rock! (Literally)
Famed photographer Tom O'Neal will be showcasing some of his rock and roll photography and telling stories from his rock and roll past on Friday, March 16 from 6:00 p.m. - 7:30 p.m. Guests will meet O'Neal, view some of his works. O'Neal's work will be from "Scene from Inside" which includes a collection of never before printed works including a Jim Morrison 1968 Photo which was just unveiled in Carmel in December. The Jim Morrison photo taken in 1968 on the set of the Smothers Show while in rehearsal with the Nelson Riddle Band behind him. This image that will be at TusCA Ristorante has never been printed before until now.
The second "Through the Eyes of an Artist Series" Will Shine in Bronze!
Steven Whyte will feature a collection of his cast bronze edition work on Wednesday, May 16th from 6:00 p.m. - 7:30 p.m. Originally from England, Whyte brings traditional European styling into 21st century American modernity with his stirring and graceful expressions of the human form. To date, his distinguished career has encompassed the majesty of monuments, the elegance of gallery editions, and the refined detail of portraiture. Whyte just finished the sculpture a heroic monument of Heisman trophy winner John David Crow for Texas A&M University. His work for the home brings the drama of public monuments to an approachable scale. Whyte's studio and gallery is located in Su Vecino Court on Dolores Street in Carmel. (www.stevenwhyte.com).
The third "Through the Eyes of an Artist Series" Will Leave You Breathless
Scott Campbell will feature an exhibition from his One Breath photography series on Thursday, October 4th from 6:00 p.m. - 7:30 p.m. Out of reach and out of sight for many, the underwater world comes alive through the ethereal black and white images of world class freediver Scott Campbell. Campbell's breath hold skills allow him to approach marine subjects differently than photographers that rely on SCUBA.
All of Scott's work is captured on a breath of air, commonly called Freediving. Scott spent 5 years competing on the US Freediving Team and set numerous records for depth and duration. He has held his breath for over seven and a half minutes and can dive to 200 feet. These skills, coupled with his photography background, produce work that is unique to the blue water environment.
Championing for the ocean environment, Scott supports the Sea Watch Foundation and is active in preventing the decommission of oil platforms that provide a vibrant habitat for marine life. Scott has been featured on the National Geographic Channel and starred in a short film, "The Pool King"
