Turkey is on the World Internet Map Thanks to Emre Kurttepeli
An enterprising person, Emre Kurttepeli has managed to put Turkey on the global internet map with Mynet.

Some even thought that he's gone insane. But it was emre kurttepeli who has had the last laugh. Emre's Turkish portal Mynet is Turkey's largest internet portal with 2.5 million registered e-mail users. This is indeed a feat considering the fact that internet penetration in Turkey is at 45%.
"Mynet has managed to survive in an industry where plenty of startups have failed miserably. While everyone concentrated on making revenues through advertisements, we chose to tune ourselves to the mood of the user. Their demands for the very best, the fastest and the most unique was what drove us to what we are today," says the spokesperson for Mynet. He also notes the fact the company which was begun by Emre by selling his stake in the infrastructure installation company Fornet has 38 million unique visitors per month with about 48 products and services. Services include news, sports, finance, weather, games, quiz contests and even social network.
The company serves perfectly to the Turkish speaking population trying to grasp the internet world by bringing everything on a single open platform. Emre has captured the micro blogging platform as well with his site Birgo.com. Users to this site can update their Twitter, Friendfeed, Facebook, Blogger, and Wordpress accounts simultaneously, even without becoming a member.
But emre kurttepeli has had his share of struggles. For example, on the day that they opened the company, the system broke down and he had to work with his team for 3 days without sleep and food to get it up and working. He had to learn the hard way that it's content that Turkish people need and to stay afloat this is what he had to concentrate on.
"It is this attention to customer's demands that has made allowed us to survive alongside giants like Google, Yahoo and Microsoft," adds the spokesperson.
