These FREE, fun, fact filled 45 minutes are created for kids 12+ who want to travel to the Maine shores to visit these endearing creatures and learn about one of the world’s largest conservation victory in our time. Coauthors Steve Kress and Derrick Jackson will frame this session around their new book, The Puffin Plan - Restoring Seabirds To Egg Rock And Beyond. Come prepared to fall even more in love with these birds, be awed by how they thrive in their natural habitat and learn how the Puffin Project reclaimed a piece of our rich biological heritage. Steve and Derrick hope to inspire others around the world, to help animals return to their native habitats.
Stephen W. Kress is a world renowned ornithologist. He is the founder of Project Puffin and retired Vice President of Bird Conservation for the National Audubon Society. He is a Visiting Fellow of the Cornell Laboratory of Ornithology. Coauthor Derrick Z. Jackson has documented the success of Project Puffin with close and personal puffin photos. As a finalist for the Pulitzer Prize as well as numerous other awards for both his writing and photography, Derrick has an impressive array of photographic experience.
