However, the IoT brings new privacy challenges as data is being collected on an unprecedented scale, often for uses that have yet to be determined. According to recent research only 22% of Internet users agree that the benefits of smart devices outweigh any privacy concerns. TRUSTe is bringing together over 20 expert speakers and more than 200 people from top organizations, universities, law firms, and companies across the privacy and technology ecosystem to tackle these issues in the first Internet of Things Privacy Summit on July 10, 2014.
New this year, the Summit offers a full day of regulatory insight, best practices, research and debate highlighting the privacy challenges of the Internet of Things at the Rosewood Hotel, Menlo Park, Silicon Valley. This is the first forum to discover, discuss and define the privacy needs of the new interconnected world and help scope out the next generation of solutions.
