Trumantech to Build New factory in China's Pearl River Delta
Trumantech is to build a $150 million solar panel manufacturing facility in South China's Guangdong province where they intend to produce half a giggawat of highly efficient solar panels a year.
- (1888PressRelease) November 26, 2016 - The building of the factory is scheduled to start mid July 2107 and be completed by January 2108. The facility will be capable of producing some of the most efficient solar panels available commercially. Capable of making 5,000 solar panels a day, or half a gigawatt of solar capacity a year.
Peter Yeung Trumantech's Owner & CEO said "Looking at what China is trying to achieve with solar right now, we took the decision to invest heavily in expanding our production and have also made provisions to expand the facility's production to 1 giggawatt in the future". He also said "We can only see renewable energy's continued expansion in China and the rest of the world, we need to reduce our carbon emissions and renewable energy is the only way forward".
In 2015, China added more than 15 gigawatts of new solar capacity, surpassing Germany as the world's largest solar power market. China now has 43.2 gigawatts of solar capacity, compared with 38.4 gigawatts in Germany and 27.8 in the United States.
According to new projections, it seems that trend is going to continue. Under its 13th Five Year Plan, China will nearly triple solar capacity by 2020, adding 15 to 20 gigawatts of solar capacity each year for the next five years, according to Nur Bekri, director of the National Energy Administration. That will bring the country's installed solar power to more than 140 gigawatts. To put that in context, world solar capacity topped 200 gigawatts last year and is expected to reach 321 gigawatts by the end of 2016.
