Christie Phoenix (Victoria) Ltd. is celebrating its 40th Anniversary. Originally opening its doors in Victoria to the public in September 1973, under the leadership of Mr. Alan Kent. The office was situated at the corner of Broughton and Blanshard Streets. At that time there were only three staff. In 1974, Mr. Mike Miller joined the office specializing in marine and commercial insurance, as a partner with Mr. Kent. In 1977 Mr. Harold Baardsnes joined Alan & Mike as partner looking after personal lines and accounting. In 1980 Mrs. Lynda Hudson joined Christie-Phoenix as assistant to Mr. Kent.
In 1981 Mr. Doug Mills joined Alan, Mike & Harold as partner and cemented the foundation that would carry on four decades later. In 2010 the office underwent a major reorganization, merger and partnership with Discovery Insurances.
In 2011 Christie-Phoenix opened its Vancouver branch office. Today we have three offices and 35+ staff.
Sadly Mr. Kent, Mr. Miller and Mr. Mills have all since passed away, and are missed greatly. They would have been proud to see the development and growth of the company. Today, there are 6 partners now and the firm is well positioned for future growth, acquisitions and succession. "
