  • Orlando, FL (1888PressRelease) July 17, 2010 - Owen Trinkler, one of the most recognizable names in GRAND-AM racing, suits up for a thrilling race in the Continental Tire Sports Car Challenge at the NJMP 250 presented by Crown Royal at the New Jersey Motorsports Park at Millville, New Jersey. This weekend for RSR Motorsports in the No. 198 RSR-Motorsports Mini Cooper S. driving with Trinkler, will be RSR team owner Randall Smalley. This will be the debut race for the entirely rebuilt, Mini Cooper S. Attracting thousands of race fans from across the nation, the NJMP 250 is one of the premier racing events in the Northeast.

"We are excited to be racing at the NJMP 250," said Owen Trinkler. "This race will be a challenge and opportunity for RSR Motorsports and our rebuilt Mini Cooper S. A lot of what fans are seeing with this Mini will be a preview of what RSR will be doing in 2011. This season has been an exciting season for RSR and we are confident that with the debut of our rebuilt Mini Cooper this weekend, our team is poised for a great remainder of the season."

Owen Trinkler spearheaded the development of the GT2 Corvette that ran in the ALMS in 2000. This is his second full season with RSR Motorsports in the Mini Cooper S. He has consulted and trained for Audi, Cadillac, Mercedes-Benz, Porsche, Panoz, and Subaru. He was selected as one of the 25 young Drivers in the USA to participate in the distinguished Team Green's Indy Car Academy Scholarship. In 2009 Trinkler qualified in Pole Position on two occasions and had a season-best finish of 4th place at Barber Motorsports Park while leading laps in a number of races for his RSR Motorsports team in the Mini Cooper S race car. This is in addition to the two pole positions he earned for the same team in the 2008 racing season, but shadows in comparison to his many racing accomplishments.

Trinkler has had a disappointing 2010 season because of setbacks with his car. He believes that with the rebuilt Mini the NJMP 250 will allow him to jumpstart the remainder of his 2010 season.
