Trevor McClintock announces "Social Experiment"
Belfast based marketing agency Trevor Mcclintock has announced that they are making the innovative move of testing their business model for a year without a website.
- (1888PressRelease) June 01, 2011 - The "Social Experiment" is being lauded by some as inspired whilst others have commented that it may be foolish publicity stunt.
Founder & CEO Trevor McClintock has said that the decision forms part of their overall marketing plan, but he admits "it is a risky tactic, We have had considerable success with our corporate website since it was launched 3 years ago. The team have been considering redevelopment options and we came to the collective decision that we will rely completely on Social media & online PR etc as opposed to running our own site as a test for a period of 1 year. Whilst it is undoubtedly a risky move we feel that we have built a network of advocates through our business activity and our social media presence. We have built lasting partnerships with clients from our social media engagement, we know our prospective clients are already using social media, whether for business or personal use, so rather than expecting people to trek to our website we will meet them on existing social platforms".
"I feel that social media has evolved sufficiently that we can continue to make considerable gains following the social experiment, and in doing so show businesses both big and small the importance of content based marketing. There's no point launching a site if your content, tone and value proposition aren't sound. Relying on social media platforms provides you a steady pipeline of clients in a space optimised for engagement, platforms like LinkedIn and Facebook give the feature rich functionality to have the content you might have available on your site displayed and laser targeting your ideal industry sectors and geographic area".
"I am not saying that corporate websites are not important, rather I am making a point that you can hone your marketing content and tone much better through engagement on the social web. This then gives you a better understanding which in turn can lead to a better performing website. This could go pear shaped, but even if it does, the data we will receive from the testing period will be invaluable"
