- Chicago, IL (1888PressRelease) June 04, 2013 - Transportation Solutions Enterprises (TSE) recently announced that President Todd Berger was named a finalist in the Ernst & Young Entrepreneur Of The YearŽ 2013 program in the Midwest. The award recognizes outstanding entrepreneurs who demonstrate excellence and extraordinary success in such areas as innovation, financial performance and personal commitment to their businesses and communities. Berger was selected from a strong pool of nominations by a panel of independent judges. Awards will be presented at a gala on June 27, 2013 at the Hilton Hotel in Chicago, Illinois.
Berger, a 34-year-old Chicago-native, began his career in the transportation industry alongside his current business partner Andrew Friedman, who was also nominated for this award in 2007. Berger started as an entry-level dispatcher at Transportation Solutions Group (TSG), which today is a subsidiary of TSE. At 25, he recognized the need to anti-commoditize the business, and proposed opening a trucking company to ensure TSG could remain competitive in the marketplace. After the successful launch of Freight Exchange of North America, Berger and founded a contract logistics management provider, 3PLogic, to help clients more efficiently manage their freight while saving money.
In 2011, Berger structured TSE as the holding company for all three organizations, and this year, TSE acquired Defined Logistics, a warehousing and freight forwarding company.
Today, the companies manage $280M+ in freight, and have been named one of the Largest Privately Held Companies in Chicago by Crain's (2011), one of the Best Places to Work in Illinois (2013), and one of the Top Employers for Generation Y Talent (2013).
Now in its 27th year, the Entrepreneur of the Year Program has expanded to recognize business leaders in more than 140 cities in more than 50 countries throughout the world.
Regional award winners are eligible for consideration for the Ernst & Young National Entrepreneur of the Year Program. Award winners in several national categories, as well as the Ernst & Young National Entrepreneur of the Year Overall Award winner, will be announced at the annual awards gala in Palm Springs, California, on November 16, 2013. The awards are the culminating event of the Ernst & Young Strategic Growth Forum, the nation's most prestigious gathering of high-growth, market-leading companies.
