Trail-blazing Divorce Attorney Speaks Of Second Pandemic Sweeping Across Suburban America
- Karolina Dehnhard, guest on NJTV, sees uptick of domestic violence due to ‘sheltering in place’ mandates-
- Newark, NJ (1888PressRelease) April 09, 2020 - Karolina A. Dehnhard, Partner, Lindabury, McCormick, Estabrook & Cooper PC and Founder, Divorce Dynasty™ was a featured guest on NJTV where she discussed the rise of domestic violence inside the home due to ‘sheltering in place’ mandates. Also addressing this topic were Assemblywoman Serena DiMaso, Diane Williams, president and CEO of Jersey Battered Women's Service, Inc., and Anna Martinez, director of the division of women at the State Department of Children and Families.
Dehnhard brought to light the under reported, serious emergency of domestic abuse suffered by affluent women forced to shelter in place with their abusers both in New Jersey and around the country.
Dehnhard spoke about the rising subculture of a new set of victims, affluent, suburban women who have never turned to hotlines or shelters to report their husbands or abusive partners. Their scars, both physical and emotional, are covered by lunches out, visits with therapists, shopping, etc. Anything to hide the pain of what is happening inside their homes. And happening it is! There’s a perfect storm brewing: everyone is stuck at home – the abusers, the victims and the children. Fighting is increasing, drinking is rampant and children have a front row seat to the physical and emotional abuse they and/or the other parent is suffering. This is a crisis that needs addressing.
