Traffic Solutions Provider ARGE VLZ Selects Matrox Extio KVM Extenders to Optimize Operations in Austrian Federal Railways Centralized Traffic Control Centers
Extio units enhance working conditions in five separate offices by remotely driving 110 employee desktops comprising up to 10 displays each.
- (1888PressRelease) August 09, 2012 - Matrox Graphics today announced that traffic-solutions-provider ARGE VLZ has selected Matrox Extio KVM extenders to enhance workplace efficiency and optimize working conditions in five Österreichische Bundesbahnen (ÖBB; Austrian Federal Railways) central offices. ARGE VLZ equipped over 100 total workstations in Innsbruck, Salzburg, Vienna, Villach, and Linz with Extio F2408 and Extio F2408E Expander units. This enabled them to drive 8-10 monitors each at distances of up to 180m to separate employees and their desktops from their noise and heat-emitting workstations.
In the lead-up to the project, the ÖBB had been seeking ways to enhance operations and become more high tech, reliable, and safe. The ÖBB contacted ARGE VLZ to enhance employee efficiency by maximizing desktop space and minimizing heat emissions and background noise originating from each system. ARGE VLZ, already familiar with Matrox multi-display graphics solutions, chose the Extio KVM extender, known to easily mitigate these issues and enhance security by enabling the centralization of all systems within a separate, climate-controlled location. As such, the Extio was deemed an ideal solution by both ARGE VLZ and the ÖBB.
