TPMG Announces A Newly Certified Lean Six Sigma Black Belt Graduate

- (1888PressRelease) May 12, 2011 - Randy Mahrt is a Management Engineer for Banner Healthcare in Phoenix, AZ. He successfully completed the rigorous on-campus lean six sigma black belt work shop by passing the certification examination with distinction. The goal of his lean six sigma project was to improve his hospital's culinary department's meal delivery accuracy. His project successfully improved meal delivery accuracy from 95.7% to 98.8% which lead to a direct annual hard dollar savings of approximately $64,000.00 per year. Reductions in food waste have also allowed the culinary department to NOT increase 2011 budget from 2010. Food costs have increased about 4% from 2010 to 2011 which accounts for a $73,408 yearly increase in expense. In addition, the department now has 1018 additional staff hours available (due to decrease in the number of defects) which has allowed the culinary department to do more with less. Randy is a Certified Professional Engineer and holds a Bachelors Degree in Industrial Engineering from Arizona State University and an MBA from Brigham Young University.
