ToyPedia Adds New Curator
ToyPedia - the web's largest resource for information on collectable toys and models - has a new curator in Louisa Cross.
- (1888PressRelease) October 08, 2011 - Louisa, who holds a Postgraduate Diploma in Information and Library Management from John Moores University, joins ToyPedia from Canterbury Christ Church University where she held the role of Library Supervisor, working on the library management system and devising and implementing efficiency solutions for the catalogue. Prior to this, she held similar roles at the University for the Creative Arts and Kent County Council.
Louisa's role with ToyPedia will focus both on the catalogue, maintaining, building and streamlining its data, and expanding the database's background information pages on toy, model and collecting-related areas.
Founded in 2009, ToyPedia is Toy Collector's online database of collectable toys and models. With over a hundred and forty thousand entries, it is planned to ultimately contain a record of every toy and model ever produced, with descriptive information and images provided by the site's members via a wiki-based interface.
Kiran Sohota, ToyPedia Volunteer Coordinator says: "Louisa is such a great fit for what we need now. We are sitting on lots of data and have more than 650 volunteers working on more - probably enough for more than 200,000 extra entries!"
Louisa Cross says "I just thought this was to good an opportunity to pass on, cataloguing more than 100 millions entries into a catalogue is a worthwhile target! I have already emerged myself in ToyPedia's book digitalisation exercise and am amazed by the quantiy and quality of the data that we are now adding to ToyPedia."
