Toy Companies' Generosity Saves Christmas For Needy Children
1,500 volunteers fill local warehouse and wrap more than 50,000 donated toys at the Children's Hunger Fund Toy Wrap event.
- Los Angeles-Long Beach, CA (1888PressRelease) December 08, 2010 - Because of the hurting economy, charitable organization Children's Hunger Fund (CHF) wasn't sure their annual volunteer Toy Wrap event would be possible this year. And without the event, thousands of needy children in the Los Angeles area would go without on Christmas.
But companies like Ty, Allied Beverage, Dole, Nestle, and Muddhouse Coffee saved the day by donating a huge amount of toys, dolls, and other essentials to make the event possible.
On Saturday, Dec. 4 at a Sylmar warehouse, 1,500 volunteers showed up and wrapped more than 50,000 toys to give to needy children this Christmas.
"It goes so much deeper than toys," explained Dave Phillips, President of Children's Hunger Fund. "When CHF gives a toy to a child in crisis we're also giving that child hope for a brighter tomorrow."
CHF also hosted Toy Wraps in Chicago and Texas for a combined total of over 2,000 people reaching out to give toys to more than 90,000 suffering children across America and around the world.
