Touchstone Youth Centre's homeless youth need for funds and donations is greater than ever
Touchstone presents its 7th Annual Fire and Ice Fundraiser! Thursday, June 14, 2012 at the Don Valley Hotel will be a night to remember as we celebrate the beginning of summer and our 20 years of service.
- (1888PressRelease) May 24, 2012 - "Touchstone urgently requires the support of the community to ensure our doors stay open, and to provide the greatly needed money and funding required to provide food, shelter and crisis intervention for homeless youth. One way is by attending our annual Fire and Ice event being held on Thursday June14th, 2012 at the Don Valley Hotel. It is our largest fundraising activity and all proceeds directly contribute to the Centre and its residents. We hope to see many people attending to show their support for our many homeless youth in the community" says Susette Clunis Executive Director of Touchstone Youth Centre.
The Centre operates a 32-bed emergency shelter and has been serving 16-to-24-year-old at-risk and homeless youth since August 1991. In the past year, Touchstone has provided more than 10 thousand homeless youth with a warm bed for the nights, and has served them almost 33 thousand hot meals. More than 500 others have accessed the many unique life-skill programs. In addition to providing safe shelter, it addressed the many issues facing homeless youth by offering an employment program, housing help, a drop-in centre and outreach support.
Touchstone remains a committed member of the East York community, located at 1076 Pape Avenue, just east of Toronto's downtown core, and is staffed 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.
