In Toronto, there are anywhere from 1,500 to 2,000 different homeless youth on a given night. Breaking the Ice is the most recent in a series of fundraising events Touchstone Youth Centre hosts to involve different communities in Toronto in our mission to make a difference in the lives of homeless youth.
"Touchstone is a great place to volunteer. The experience gave me a new perspective on youth shelters." said Nari Maharaj, Volunteer. "After seeing all the great programs and services offered, I gained a new appreciation for all the hard work that is done here on a daily basis."
Touchstone Youth Centre hopes to raise awareness of youth homelessness in Toronto and to enhance the life prospects of young people who are attempting to live independently but are temporarily without shelter.
Breaking the Ice: An Urban Dance Competition would not be possible without the support of our partners: JusTechnique Productions, Snapback and Goods, Lynne MacDonell & Associates, and Simply Swagg Dance Studio.
