The selection means the company has been certified by Medicare to provide mail-order diabetes supplies in what are known as the competitive bidding regions - nine urban centers that fall under Medicare's competitive bidding program. The program, which came into effect January 1, 2011, means Medicare will only refund patients for diabetes supplies purchased through a selected group of suppliers.

Total Health Diabetes LLC is certified by Medicare to provide mail-order diabetes supplies in eight regions across the United States, including Pittsburgh, Cincinnati-Middletown, Kansas City, Dallas-Fort Worth, Charlotte, Miami-Fort Lauderdale, Orlando, and Riverside, California.
In the nine major urban regions, patients who receive their mail-order diabetes supplies from a company that isn't a bid-winner risk not being refunded. The program, formally entitled the Medicare Durable Medical Equipment, Prosthetics, Orthotics, and Supplies (DMEPOS) Competitive Bidding Program, changes the way Medicare pays for mail-order diabetic supplies in the nine regions across the United States. The program means Medicare will refund only customers who purchase their mail-order diabetes supplies from an Approved Medicare Contract Supplier, a supplier certified as a "competitive bid winner."
