For the three-day event, West presented on the topics, “The Real Threat of Quantum Computing” followed by his white paper, “Beyond the CIA Triad” and this year’s Cyber Summit, hosted in Wiesbaden, Germany at the Dorint Pallas.

The Real Threat of Quantum Computing featured discussions on the predicted timeline for the debut of general-use quantum computing. In addition, West noted that the current IQ of AI is estimated at 155 and could reach an IQ of 1600 within the next decade. To put that into perspective, West noted that Albert Einstein was estimated to have an IQ of between 160 and 190.

The talk also included how China purposefully plans and builds cities around their supercomputers, with reports estimating more than 50 known cities before they ceased releasing information on their supercomputers and specifications. West questioned, “Now, should China achieve quantum supremacy with the development of a true quantum supercomputer in the next three to five years, coupled with what an AI system can achieve when utilizing fifty-plus supercomputers as a grid computing network…what will cyberattacks look like then?”

“Now take a 1600+ IQ AI system utilizing the power of a quantum supercomputer with an array of both regular quantum computers and supercomputers all ready to disrupt, circumvent, deny, manipulate, decode, decipher, intercept, and more any available data and networks globally,” said West.

West’s white paper, “Beyond the CIA Triad,” highlights how the traditional triad of cybersecurity needs to expand beyond confidentiality, integrity, and availability to include non-repudiation, authenticity, authorized use, possession, privacy, and utility. This approach advocates that cybersecurity professionals and leadership continue to expand their perspective of risk evaluation and mitigation, and approach their practices with a new perspective.

“My goal is that anyone who leaves this talk today will have a new perspective of what ‘defense in depth’ truly means and how they can apply it in their daily practices,” said West.

West has worked in the IT and cybersecurity industry for more than 32 years across many sectors, including commercial, space, federal, and defense. He is a multi-domain expert, in the fields of Biometrics, Risk Management, Security Analysis, and Network and Systems Auditing. West is also known for winning the 2024 Cybersecurity Leader of the Year and the 2021 Cyber Security Awards “Cyber Personality of the Year” for his notable drive and passion for helping others.

West holds multiple certifications, which include CISSP-ISSEP, ISSMP, GSLC, GCIH, GSNA, GPEN, G2700, PMP, C-CISO, S-CISO, and many others.
