  • Washington, DC-MD-VA-WV (1888PressRelease) February 18, 2011 - Top-tier women leaders in life sciences will come together for a panel discussion, "Will the Government Cover and Reimburse your Technology?" on Thursday, March 17 in Washington, D.C. This panel, the second installment of Women In Bio's (WIB) "Discussion with the Expert Series," will evaluate the importance of considering reimbursement issues even in early-stage life science product development.

"With Medicare being the single largest payer of health care services in the U.S., coverage and payment decisions can have far reaching implications to the success of life science companies," said Debra Bowes, WIB President. "Whether, and how much, Medicare will pay determines if a project moves forward or is adopted by a larger partner or venture capital. It is therefore critical for organizations to understand coverage and reimbursement at the start of their efforts. Our panel of experts will help guide attendees through these processes while also providing a great networking platform for women in life sciences."

The event's panel includes a top government expert, Tamara Syrek Jensen, JD, Deputy Director, Coverage and Analysis Group, Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS), U.S. Dept of Health & Human Services; and industry leaders Rachel King, MBA, CEO and founder, GlycoMimetics, Inc.; Sara Nayeem, MD, MBA, Principal, New Enterprise Associates (NEA); and Caroline York, Reimbursement Account Manager, Auxilium Pharmaceuticals, Inc.
