Top Charity Vegan Outreach Gets Millennials with Heartfelt Art
Rated outstanding and a top charity, Vegan Outreach kicks off Art from the Heart fundraiser in May for the biggest generation and the generation most vegan and vegetarian - Millennials.
- (1888PressRelease) May 01, 2015 - Vegan Outreach kicks off the Art from the Heart fundraiser in May. "From global climate crisis to torture to pollution to disease, Vegan Outreach has the shortcut to fix our biggest threats," says the artist donating Art from the Heart, Deidra Smith.
This resonates with Millennials. They see the need for Vegan Outreach at a time when raising animals to eat is responsible for 65% of all emissions of nitrous oxide - a greenhouse gas 296x more destructive than carbon dioxide according to "Livestock's Long Shadow: Environmental Issues and Options." "For millennials, food isn't just food. It's community," reported The Washington Post when writing about the Silver Diner chain catering to vegans and vegetarians. The Vegetarian Resource Group also reported that 42% of vegetarians are Millennials between the ages 18 and 34. There has been a 50% increase in vegetarian students and the percentage of vegan students doubled from 2005 to 2010 according to the Bon Apetit Management Company that serves college and university accounts.
"Art from the Heart is a natural way to connect with Millennials who care," says artist Deidra Smith. "This is not your everyday art. It's about connection - something Millennials are famous for. I paint the affection animals feel for those they love. We can all connect with the need for affection. As Einstein said, 'Our task must be to free ourselves from this prison by widening our circle of compassion to embrace all living creatures and the whole of nature in its beauty,'" Smith concludes.
