Mom and Dad slumber in their beds while the children are tumbling out of beds for their first look at the presents wrapped underneath the tree. They tear off the paper and gleeful shrieks fill the house--toys that they have asked for and wished for and talked about for months.

This is a joyful scene, but the sad reality is that there are children who never know what it is like to receive a present from Santa, their parents, or anyone else on Christmas morning. This is where the Toys for Tots program comes in. Toys for Tots, a 70-year national charitable program run by the U.S. Marine Corps Reserve, provides happiness and hope to less fortunate children during each Christmas holiday season. The toys, books and other gifts collected and distributed by Marines and volunteers offer these children recognition, confidence and a positive memory for a lifetime. The folks responsible at Toys for Tots believe it is such experiences that help disadvantaged children become responsible citizens and caring members of their community.

There are Toys for Tots toy drives held all over the nation, particularly where there is a U.S. Marine Corps Reserve unit. Although the U.S. Marine Corps is the official organizer of the Toys for Tots toy drives, it wouldn’t be possible without the support of local businesses and community members. Toledo Molding & Die has been a proud supporter of the local Toys for Tots toy drive for five years in a row.

Toledo Molding & Die has many locations, but at the heart of it all, they are a family company with family values in mind. The Plymouth location of Toledo Molding & Die is the one that organizes the Toys For Tots campaign but the locations on Coining Drive, Plymouth, and Laskey all participate. The more locations, the more toys donated, the more children that receive gifts and memories that last forever!

Each year, the Marine Corps fulfills the holiday hopes and dreams of an average of 7 million less fortunate children in nearly 800 communities nationwide. Since 1947 over 244 million children have been assisted.

For many children in need, the only presents they will receive that year will be from the Toys for Tots drive. The support of the local community is monumental in ensuring the success of the toy drive.
