Tintswalo Property Group Partners With Diepsloot Community
Tintswalo Property Group has partnered with the Diepsloot community with the aim of creating a successful transformation for the poverty-stricken township.
- (1888PressRelease) October 09, 2012 - Tintswalo Property Group, a property development and management company, has partnered with the Diepsloot community with the aim of creating a sustained transformation for the poverty-stricken township. As the company's head office is situated in Midrand, it was too close to home not to reach out and make a difference.
Working in conjunction with the South African Police Services (SAPS) and the SAPS youth desk, the company's Personal Achievement Centre (PAC) initiated an awareness campaign on drug abuse and the negative impact the substance has on people's lives.
Having identified schools that are classified as being in high risk areas, Tintswalo's PAC hosts regular educational workshops for the youth to create drug awareness. In equipping learners with the relevant presentation skills and background knowledge on drug awareness, they in turn become 'marshals' who have a positive impact on peers by visiting schools for awareness campaigns.
Lisa Goosen, CEO of Tintswalo Property Group says that Corporate Social Investment (CSI) has, and always be, an important aspect of the company's growth.
"Early in my career, I initiated various educational programmes for the surrounding communities as I still feel that in order to build a sustainable business, you need to make a positive impact on the surrounding communities.
"Our PAC drug awareness programme has achieved immense success, having held 22 workshops so far. The difference that we make is truly heartfelt in the sense that each educator or marshal has a ripple effect on more than one person.
Tintswalo's PAC offers various courses at different levels in order to handle the issues faced by the Diepsloot community. The duration of the courses differ with the shortest being two days, while the more extensive courses can last up to four weeks.
"The Diepsloot police have been very supportive of this initiative, especially Colonel Balatse. We are delighted that the youth have embraced our programme and we will continue to make as much of a positive contribution to the community as possible," concludes Goosen.
